ABOUT THE TOUR

Lonavla is a popular town and a hill station in the Pune district of Maharashtra. This hill-station is located on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and is about 111.5 kms from Mumbai. Lonavla is famous for a popular candy known as ‘chikki’ and is also a major tourist stop-over between Mumbai and Pune. This hill station has all that is needed for a short term trip. The drive up the hills of Lonavala is stimulating as it offers the view of the green grass hills, waterfalls and to add up is the cold and refreshing climate. The lush blanket of green surrounding this hill-station springs to life during the Monsoon season. Lonavla  is blessed with waterfalls, lakes and greenery. The name ‘Lonavla’ is derived from ‘Len’ and ‘Avali’ that roughly translates to ‘the resting place of stones’.  Lonavla and the sister hill-station, Khandala, is a must visit place during monsoons, Nearby attractions are Lohgarh fort, Lion Point, Tiger Point and the Duke’s Nose.

ITINERARY FOR LONAVLA.

DAY 01: MUMBAI TO LONVALA

The best way to tour lonavla from Mumbai is by road .  But  the Railways is also a good option . It takes around three hours drive to reach Lonavala. Spend the rest of the day at leisure or you may choose to explore local markets to enjoy delicious foods of Lonavala. Return to hotel for night stay.

DAY 02: CITY TOUR

After a healthy breakfast, proceed to visit Bhushi Dam, which is the most famous spot in the whole town. It is a perfect spot for the picnickers. There remarkable waterfall, near the dam, is also very famous spot. Then visit the Ryewood Park, which is also located to the Lonavala market and offers a great view. The lawns are very well maniured, and you will find a variety of trees and colorful flowers. Later visit the Tungarli Lake, an artificial reservoir in Lonavala and a major source of water supply to Lonavala city. Tiger Point, Lion Point, Wax Museum, Lohgarh Fort, Ekvira Devi Temple, Narayani dham  are the other places of attraction you can visit.  The remaining day is at leisure and later you retire for the night.

DAY 03: BACK TO MUMBAI

Your short trip to Lonavala ends with your departure to Mumbai from Lonavala. Buy some chikkis as and fudge as a souvenir and can take a taste of it while departing from the ghats of khandala.
